The agenda at the African Connection is for it to flourish as a community radio station into a dynamic, effective and valuable community resource. We intend to be actively involved in changing lives and improving the community forever. For this to come to fruition dialogue must begin with the community way before the station begins to broadcast over the airwaves. This means
Approaching - Meet with the various associations, groups and organisations within the community whether statutory or voluntary and ask if they would like to turn whatever it is they do into radio.
Recruiting - Recruitingvolunteers across the spectrum of the community
Encouraging - Encourage participation by everyone in the community regardless of age, gender, religion, language etc
Consulting - Begin to consult with community members and ask them what they would like to see to help shape their station.
Finding - Find out who is doing what in the community already, who is providing what services and which community needs are not currently being addressed.
At the conclusion of this process it should be plain clear what the community needs and wants from its community radio station.
However promoting community will be an ongoing process, so that we can continue to identify which segments, groups or associations within the community are not being represented on the station. When its all said and done we will be able to show that our community work, activities, outreach programmes and our radio productions have contributed towards real and measurable results in the community.
We hereby encourage members to register their inerests by competing the survey on the survey page and register their groups or associations activities in the guest book.
